
Elio Gaviria is a first-generation Colombian/Mexican-American classical pianist from Chicago, Illinois. A graduate of the Merit School of Music Conservatory, she is an award-winning soloist and chamber musician, currently in her fourth year at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying under Benjamin Frith.
Elio is a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award and a Second Prize winner of the 2021 Illinois State North Piano Competition. Her Cooke Award led to a nationally broadcast appearance on NPR’s From the Top. As a member of the Morelia Piano Trio, she has achieved notable success, including winning the RNCM Nossek Prize and the Christopher Rowland Chamber Ensemble of the Year Award in 2025.
Her performance experience includes appearances at venues such as Manchester Cathedral, with upcoming engagements in 2026 at the Royal Overseas League and Wigmore Hall in London. Elio has performed alongside Steven Osborne and has participated in masterclasses with Sir Stephen Hough, Richard Goode, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, and Philippe Cassard.
Deeply connected to her cultural heritage, Elio has been featured in performances celebrating Latino and Hispanic communities, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Latino Alliance Noche Navideña, the Grand Colombian Festival for Colombian Independence Day, and as a guest soloist for the Association of Hispanic Journalists in Chicago (2025). She has also been featured in Our Latinx Magazine, where she discusses her path and aspirations as a Hispanic classical musician.
In addition to her performing career, Elio has taught private piano for over six years in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Drawing on her background as a former ballet dancer, she will release her debut self-produced album in spring 2026, Dance With Me: Piano Music for Ballet Class.
